MALVERN CLASSICISTS SWEEP THE BOARD IN LOCAL COMPETITION
The girls at Malvern St James didn't restrict their World Book Day activities to their mother tongue this week, when on Tuesday March 4th they entered the Gloucestershire Classical Association's Latin and Greek reading competition.
Girls from the school swept the board by winning ten of the eighteen prizes on offer, and, in the Junior section they came home with first, second and third places!
The competition, which was held at Cheltenham College, was open to all schools in the area.
Those competing were:
Cheltenham College, Cheltenham Ladies’ College, Dean Close, St Edwards, Pate’s, Hereford Cathedral School, The King’s School Gloucester, RGS/AO, Haberdashers’ Monmouth School for Girls and Malvern St James.

1st Prizes Chloe Moore and Harriet Salt
2nd Prizes Brahmjort Jagpal and Khadija Abdulsamad Rabiu
3rd Prizes Mickie Koh and Catherine Stylianou

2nd Prize Natalie Halliday
Head of Classics, Anne Dicks said:
" We are rightly proud of our team. Classics is gaining popularity in schools and we are delighted that the standard achieved by our girls at all levels is so very high".
