A full day of netball for girls and boys from local primary and prep schools, was pronounced “a runaway success” by coaches, staff and children, after four hours of play, in glorious, winter sunshine at Malvern St James.

Over 200 girls and boys from eleven schools in Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Warwickshire took part in both the sport and the fun on Malvern St James’ Astroturf, alongside their new sports hall.

In the morning, they were put through their paces by a team of ten professional coaches, including Sports Staff from Malvern St James, before a nail-biting tournament, which gave everyone the opportunity to demonstrate their new skills.

The girls and boys were in mixed school teams so that there was plenty of opportunity for forging new friendships and for staff, it was a chance to observe their pupils in a quite different sporting environment.

It was unique experience to play an intra-schools tournament,
rather than the more traditional inter-schools competition.

At the end of the day medals were awarded to the top three teams.
A1 were the winners followed by E2 and D1.

Mrs. Rosalind Hayes, Headmistress of Malvern St James, said:

“Sport is a wonderful way of bringing young people together; it provides them with an opportunity to succeed, promotes teamwork and forges new friendships. We thoroughly enjoyed having all the children here and will certainly repeat the event next year”.
